Who Are We?
We are the National Panhellenic Council (SBU Panhellenic) at Stony Brook Univeristy, the governing body for the three Panhellenic sororities on campus: Alpha Sigma Alpha, Theta Phi Alpha, and Sigma Delta Tau. Our council is made up of women from each sorority who work together to uphold the Panhellenic vision of fostering thriving sororities and create a strong sense of community on campus!
SBU Panhellenic promotes common shared values of sisterhood, philanthropy, serivce, leadership, friendship, integrity, and community with its chapters. One of our key roles is facilitating formal recruitment during the spring semester. We consistely work to ensure the recruitment process is fair, welcoming, and accessible for all our potential members.
While each chapter hosts their own sisterhood and philanthropy events, we also collaborate as a council to create meaningful impact. Each year SBU Panhellenic hosts a "NPC Thirft Shop" in support of Breast Cancer Awareness and participates in WolfieThon, a year-long fundraising initiative in partnership with the Andrew McDounough B+ Foundation. Last year, our Panhellenic chapters raised over $40,000 for Wolfiethon which directly supports children and families affected by childhood cancer!

Alpha Sigma Alpha
The Zeta Iota Chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha was founded at Stony Brook in 1991 and was founded nationally on November 15, 1901. With over 120 years of sisterhood, service, and leadership, Alpha Sigma Alpha has a rich and vibrant history. They live by the shared core values of balance, generosity, growth, integrity, learning, relationships, responsibility, and enjoyment. Their vision is to "elevate the influence of women in the world".
Alpha Sigma Alpha actively supports their national philanthropies: Girls on the Run, which promotes health and confidence in young girls, and the Special Olympics, which empowers disabled athletes and advocates for inclusion. Alpha Sigma Alpha supports these causes through their annual "Big Man on Campus" event, where fraternities compete to see who can raise the most money to claim the crown and be the "Big Man on Campus"!
Theta Phi Alpha
The Beta Alpha Chapter of Theta Phi Alpha was founded at Stony Brook in 1987, with the sorority's national founding on April 30, 1912. With over a century of tradition, Theta Phi Alpha fosters a sisterhood built on the timeless values of justice, wisdom, loyalty, faith, truth, and honor. Guided by their slogan, "ever loyal, ever lasting," Theta Phi Alpha encourages members to live with purpose and integrity.
Theta Phi Alpha's national philanthropies include Glenmary Home Missionaries, Camp Friendship, and The House That Theta Phi Alpha Built. All organizations fight to help families and children in extremely impoverished areas of the United States, providing housing, food, and financial support. Theta Phi Alpha hosts their annual "Mangeant" which is a male beauty pageant to support Camp Friendship!
Sigma Delta Tau
The Beta Phi Chapter of Sigma Delta Tau was founded at Stony Brook University in 1994, with their national founding date tracing back to March 25, 1917. For over a century, Sigma Delta Tau has been empowering women to lead with confidence, guided by their values of individuality, connection, engagement, and community. The chapter colors are café au lait and old blue and their motto is "One Hope of Many People".
Sigma Delta Tau's efforts support their national philanthropies include Prevent Child Abuse America, an organization committed to protecting children against abuse and strengthening families, as well as Jewish Women International, which promotes safety and empowerment for Jewish women. Sigma Delta Tau hosts an annual 5K walk and run, "Kardio for Kids", and a pinwheel fundraiser, "Pinwheels for Prevention", to support Prevent Child Abuse America!
